Review: The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa

The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa
Release Date:May 4th, 2012
Number of pages: 485 pages
Format: Paperback

In a future world, Vampires reign. Humans are blood cattle. And one girl will search for the key to save humanity.

Allison Sekemoto survives in the Fringe, the outermost circle of a vampire city. By day, she and her crew scavenge for food. By night, any one of them could be eaten.

Some days, all that drives Allie is her hatred of them. The vampires who keep humans as blood cattle. Until the night Allie herself is attacked—and given the ultimate choice. Die… or become one of the monsters.

Faced with her own mortality, Allie becomes what she despises most. To survive, she must learn the rules of being immortal, including the most important: go long enough without human blood, and you will go mad.

Then Allie is forced to flee into the unknown, outside her city walls. There she joins a ragged band of humans who are seeking a legend—a possible cure to the disease that killed off most of humankind and created the rabids, the mindless creatures who threaten humans and vampires alike.

But it isn’t easy to pass for human. Especially not around Zeke, who might see past the monster inside her. And Allie soon must decide what—and who—is worth dying for.

Oh,what have I done to this poor book? It's all scratched and smudged. Eww. I never did something like that because I take good care of my babies but sadly this one was the first to experience abuse from momma.

Well, Hallelujah! I actually finished it. It took me a long time. If it was any other book I would give up a long time ago. But I love me some vamps. They kick serious ass.

It was too slow for my taste. If I read it on my PlayBook it would get 2 star rating but because I actually spend money on the real thing I will cut it some slack. I even got an ARC but decided to wait and buy it like everyone else.

Alison was too serious for my taste. Zeke was a little preacher boy and I didn't like him even though people were saying how awesome he was. I didn't like him because he was too goodie-two-shoes for dystopian world. It was unrealistic. And the attraction between these two was non-existent. I disliked Ruth(duh). Kanin is the only interesting character.

I need the sequel! I need to find out what happened to Kanin. I hope he will kill that Smiley vamp who freaked me out and snatch Allie from Zeke. *evil grin*

Review: A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger

A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Kepling
Release Date: June 5th, 2012
Number of pages: 301
Format: Hardback
Purchase(TheBookDepository)

Whitley Johnson's dream summer with her divorcé dad has turned into a nightmare. She's just met his new fiancée and her kids. The fiancée's son? Whitley's one-night stand from graduation night. Just freakin' great.

Worse, she totally doesn't fit in with her dad's perfect new country-club family. So Whitley acts out. She parties. Hard. So hard she doesn't even notice the good things right under her nose: a sweet little future stepsister who is just about the only person she's ever liked, a best friend (even though Whitley swears she doesn't "do" friends), and a smoking-hot guy who isn't her stepbrother...at least, not yet. It will take all three of them to help Whitley get through her anger and begin to put the pieces of her family together.

Filled with authenticity and raw emotion, Whitley is Kody Keplinger's most compelling character to date: a cynical Holden Caulfield-esque girl you will wholly care about.

Whitley was being obnoxious from the start. We meet her day after her graduation party. She had sex with some random dude. She kept on complaining how her mother bitches all the time, then she is complaining about her father, his new house, her future stepmom and her kids. Surprise-surprise: the guy she slept with is her new stepbrother. They kiss a few time after a heating argument, the usual. I don't like this sort of people. Why are they always complaining about stuff. Learn to adjust to certain things. In life things won't always go your way.

And just when I thought I could't dislike this girl more she goes and does some more stupid things. She is pissed on the nice, cute stepbrother because he said she is a whore and a drunk-which she totally is. She has some problems with her parents. She is a child of divorces parents,so what? I am too. But that doesnt mean I am going to every party and acting totally crazy, drinking until I pass out or hooking up with random guys who find me attractive. I am wondering: Do people actually do this kind of crap to get their parents attention? If so,then all I can say is- that is so messed up.

I've been having some trouble with Kody's second book- Shut Out. But now I just think I have a problem in general with the way Kody is shaping her leading ladies. First there was Bianca who hooks up with a guy after he basically called her The Designated Ugly Fat Friend. (note:I did give this book 5 stars only because I read it when it first came out,so I was younger and didn't understood how effed up that situation was) Then there was Lissa from Shut Out...ught i can't even with that book.

So in the last 40% of the book there is a change in Whitley. She falls for the stepbrother, stops going to the parties, says goodbye to the bottle of tequila on her night stand, finally confronts her father about the divorce and has sleeps beneath the stars with her new boyfriend and her gay friend. The End

THE HEARTBREAK
The closer Beth gets to Derek, the further away he seems. Then Beth discovers that Derek's been hiding a dark secret from her ?one that could shatter everything.

This really is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read. It had me laughing, and it had me crying. It had me feeling so low, I was effected when I put the book down, yet so happy and hopeful for myself, that it left me smiley and in a bit of a dreamy state. It's just impossible for me to put into words just how incredibly moving I found Sing Me to Sleep. This book has effected me so deeply, it will stay with me forever. Just beautiful.

It’s hard to say why this book made such the emotionally impact it did on me. In part, it has to do with the character of Derek and what’s he’s hiding. What he goes though is so very heartbreaking, especially for Beth because just as she finds her inner beauty and strength, he must leave her. Angela shows with the character of Derek why some people are in our lives for only a short moment of time. Because Derek and Beth are so in love with one another, they are very intimate with one another. These two can’t stop kissing and touching. It’s handled very well, even when the topic of sex comes up.

Sing Me to Sleep is a book you easily find yourself involved in, living. Toward the end of the story I felt like I was there, astonished by the actions of those around me, feeling the same feelings the characters were experiencing. The tears sliding down my face proved my involvement.

Review: Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Release Date: May 1st, 2012
Number of pages: 525 pages
Format: Hardback
Purchased: Won in a giveaway. Buy on (TheBookDepository)

First of all,I am NOT one of those people who give 5 star rating to every damn book they read(obviously) so I am NOT going to give Insurgent 5 stars just because Divergent was great. That is not enough. I know all of my friends will say I am crazy for not liking this book but after reading books for so many years I just can't put up with certain things.

I understand some characters need to die in dystopian novels but there was so much death in here. Charley Davidson (First Grave on the Right) will have her hands full.

I was completely in love with Divergent and I couldn't wait to see what will happen next. But after months of torture I got a lot of yawning and eye rolling. Tris was such a frustrated MC. The Elena Gilbert type of MC-she is always selfless, tries to do the right thing all of the freaking time. Now I'm thinking that I probably never really liked Tris. The best thing about Divergent was the story itself. Insurgent had a lot action but it felt kind of dry. It didn't had that spark-the think that got me hooked in the first place. I've said the same thing in my review of Legend. Also that so called cliffhanger was laughable. Is it even a cliffhanger? Dunno, don't care.

How to rate this? I have no idea. In the end it wasn't bad but I need to remember in the future not to expect miracles from authors. One more thing,I have a major crush on Peter. I like him cause he is a bastard so that probably makes me a bad person. I just don't care,I want that twisted son of a gun.

Format: epub

Being the good girl isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Ashton Gray has grown weary of playing the part to please her parents, and to be worthy of the town’s prince charming, Sawyer Vincent. Maybe That’s why she’s found herself spending time with Sawyer’s cousin, Beau, while he’s away for the summer camping with his family. Beau is nothing like her perfect boyfriend. He’s the sexiest guy she’s ever seen, dangerous in ways she’s only day dreamed about, and the one guy she should stay away from.
Beau never envied Sawyer his loving parents, his big nice home, or his position as quarterback. He loves him like a brother. Which is why he's tried everything in his power to keep his distance from Sawyer’s girlfriend. Even if he has loved her since the age of five, Ashton is Sawyer’s girl, so therefore she’s off limits. But when Sawyer leaves for the summer, Ashton, the one girl Beau would move Heaven and Earth for, decides she wants to get into trouble. Stabbing the one person who’s always accepted him and stood by him in the back, is the cost of finally holding Ashton Gray in his arms. Is she worth losing his cousin over?.... Hell Yeah.

WARNING THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SWEARING!

It's time to write this review. Oh man,I want to barf. If you thought Breathe sucked check this 'jewel' out.

It started out great:Chick's(Ashton) boyfriend(Sawyer) goes on some motherfu***ng mountain trip and leaves her all alone with her her stupid religious parents and what's a girl to do than to rekindle her friendship with a towns bad boy(Beau)... Anyway, she hooks up with Beau and when I say she hoops up i mean-the preacher's daughter f***s him in his truck or outside on the grass,I don't remember where it happened. Some relatives come to stay with her family and she can't stop whinning how bitchy her cousin is even though the girl is the most reasonable character in the whole freaking book. She even helps the c**t to choose one guy and lets go of the other. After her boyfriend comes back from camping and eventually finds out about the cheating the whole freaking school bullies her a** and the perfect-now-ex-boyfriend who is by Ashton's 'common' sense not in fact perfect(what a shocker!) does nothing and lets people lynch the stupid cheating whore while Beau is missing. He left so he could deal the fact that his stripper mother had sex with Saw's dad. He and Sawyer are brothers?! *gasps* Moving on... Eventually he also comes back and Ashton is all hot and ready for some bad boy loving. He beats up Sawyer because he didn't defend Ashton against the peeps in school. Sawyer,a question for you:Why didn't you defend your cheating ex girlfriend? *sarcasm* I actually don't see anything wrong in his actions but Beau is a dumb hick who resolves his problems with fists. i totaly didn't see the ending coming: C**t and the hick end up together. And the bi*** says something about their love could last forever and she could see them happily marries. Awww.

This review was supposed to be longer but my ereader crashed with all the highlighted stupid parts. I suppose that happened because there were so many lousy parts and so many inserted comments-by me and the poor thing could take no more of the torture.

Review: Easy by Tammara Webber

Easy by Tammara Webber
Release Date: May 25th, 2012
Number of Pages: approximately 300 pages on my PlayBook
Format: epub
Purchase(Amazon)

I've been waiting for this book for such a long time and it didn't disappoint.
Yes! Yes! It was so good. I only read one Tammara Webber book before but I liked it. This one is even better. It's not a typical romantic story. It has some heavy stuff like murder and rape. But it still managed to remain in YA shelf.

Jacqueline was a normal girl and I like her that way. As for Lucas...well I can say just one thing: MARRY ME! He is smart, can kick ass,can cook, has tattoos and a lip ring. And is so sexy he made my heart race.

Review: Saving June by Hannah Harrington

Saving June by Hannah Harrington

Number of pages: 322 pages
Format: Paperback

Who doesn't love road trip and music related books with some grief? Saving June has all of that + a hot guy with the guitar(who used to have blue hair *swoon*). I don't know what to say about this amazing book. I just know that it touched me in so many ways and I cried a lot.

This song was playing the whole time while I was reading.
